Sonepar Canada Exploits Social Tools for Event

sonepar websiteYesterday we launched the Sonepar Canada corporate website along with an event page to promote their solar display at the Canadian Exhibition, which is taking place over the next couple of weeks.

The event page is of particular interest because it incorporates a number of social networking tools that record, document, and promote the event, and lets people follow and comment on Sonepar’s activities at the EX.  It also serves as a repository of information and an archive of the activities that took place at the Sonepar display.

Soneparcanada.com is built on a WordPress platform, which makes adding plugins and widgets easy.

We used 3 popular tools to make it all happen:

Twitter Tracker

Twitter Tracker is an extremely flexible widget that lets you display a certain number of customized Twitter search results.  This means we can show tweets from the soneparcanada twitter account, or tweets with the keyword “Sonepar” in them, or even tweets with a certain attitude (example: the search operator movie -scary : ) returns tweets containing the word “movie” but not “scary,” and with a positive attitude.)

Twitter Tracker pulls its search results from www.search.twitter.com .

Like Box

Like Box is a social plugin that lets Facebook Page owners attract and gain Likes from outside the Facebook environment.  It lets users:

  • See how many users already like this page, and which of their friends like it too
  • Read recent posts and see picture thumbnails from the page
  • Like the page with one click, without needing to visit the facebook page

Gravity Forms

Gravity Forms is a WordPress form management plugin that’s easy to use and comes with a ton of rich features, including conditional form fields, email notification routing, form scheduling, data exports to CSV format, and a million others.

We’re using it on the Sonepar EX page to allow people to contact us with questions or comments about the Solar array display, and allows us to capture information and respond quickly and easily to potential customer leads.

  1. The only norm to be followed is ‘Don’t get personal’ as that deviates from the subject matter under discussion. Such digressions ought to be shunned equally well with an iron hand. The moment somebody says ‘So you think you know better? ‘ drop the discussion and leave.
