Vampires and Rockers Headline the Red Carpet at TIFF 2013

Iconic art-house director, Jim Jarmusch, took center stage at the Ryerson Theater on Thursday, Sept. 5th for the North American premiere of his latest film Only Lovers Left Alive. This moody and stylized romance film juxtaposed Detroit and Tangiers in a brooding tale of immortal vampire lovers surviving by clinging together in a surreal nocturnal existence. The stellar cast includes Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Anton Yelchin, Mia Wasikowska and John Hurt who all bring a sense of deep reverie and dreaminess to this hypnotic film. Starshot was thrilled to host the post-screening reception for the film at the Rosewater where an intimate group of clients joined the cast and crew over cocktails and conversation.

The following evening saw a huge amount of buzz in the city for the official party of Only Lovers Left Alive hosted at the historic Courthouse venue. Media from around the world converged to cover the red carpet entrance where, celebrities and VIP’s joined a TIFF party that can only be described mildly as enthusiastic. With an homage to Jim Jarmusch’s affinity for weaving music into his films, Toronto alt-rockers The Sadies took the stage and simply blew the roof off the building. The culmination of their incredible show was an unexpected encore where the Sadies played a 15 minute rambling set of rockabilly favorites, 50’s covers and original guitar licks that saw the Director, cast and crew rocking out in the front row alongside fans. It wasn’t until the wee hours of Saturday that the dance floor cleared and the final guests left into the night.
